Position Summary...

The Senior Director for Data Ventures Data Globalization, leads the strategic design and globalization of our data ecosystem to drive high-value commercial insights. You will be responsible for architecting scalable, secure, and compliant data structures that harmonize disparate data sets across our multiple business units (International, Sam’s Club, Walmart US, and Growth) into a unified global framework. By partnering with cross-functional business, product, and engineering teams, you will ensure our data assets support advanced analytics and external monetization strategies across diverse geographic markets. In addition to globalization efforts, this leader will assist with the integration of Generative AI and agentic workflows into the core data architecture to accelerate insight discovery. You will design "agent-ready" data environments that allow autonomous AI agents to navigate, interpret, and action global datasets with high precision. This role requires a visionary leader capable of navigating complex business operations, numerous stakeholders across the enterprise, and data sovereignty laws while maintaining a high-performance infrastructure. Ultimately, your work will enable the Data Ventures team to deliver seamless, data-driven products that scale globally and maintain a competitive edge.

What you'll do...

  • Architect the global canonical data model that unifies operational, omni-transaction, identity, and supplier-facing data across Walmart US, Sam’s Club, International markets, and Growth.
  • Lead global data harmonization, reducing local-market variation and creating scalable frameworks that power the next generation of Scintilla.
  • Oversee the evolution of DV’s enterprise data model.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, and Data teams to modernize global data pipelines, improve performance, and meet availability SLAs required for global Scintilla adoption.
  • Translate complex business needs into data strategies, roadmaps, and architectures that unlock commercial value.
  • Influence cross-functional leaders across the Enterprise to align on global data standards and priorities.

What you'll bring...

  • Leadership experience in global data architecture, enterprise data strategy, large‑scale analytics, or complex multi‑market data environments.
  • Proven success designing and governing global, harmonized, compliant data ecosystems, including data sovereignty, privacy, and retention.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable global data strategies with clear ROI, roadmap alignment, and measurable commercial impact.
  • Experience leveraging enterprise data for monetization, partnering with cross-functional teams to develop new revenue streams and build data‑driven product strategies.
  • Experience developing and deploying Generative AI and agentic capabilities on extremely complex retail datasets, including vectorized metadata, semantic layers, and AI‑ready data architectures.
  • Strong track record building trusted internal relationships with cross‑segment business partners, providing consulting, data architecture guidance, and adoption support across the product development lifecycle.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with Enterprise Architecture teams to design reusable patterns, blueprints, and standards deployed across multiple business units and geographies.
  • Customer‑centric mindset with expertise in design thinking, journey mapping, dependency mapping, process optimization, and influencing techniques to uncover unmet customer and supplier needs.
  • Strong analytical and operational rigor; ability to evaluate global performance by gathering, analyzing, and interpreting data quality metrics, pipeline indicators, architectural KPIs, and operational trends.
  • Experience creating intellectual property assets, including frameworks, tooling approaches, operating models, and methodologies that scale across teams and markets.
  • Executive‑level communication and storytelling skills with the ability to shape narratives for senior leadership, influence priority decisions, and align stakeholders on the most critical global data work.
  • Demonstrated success leading globally distributed teams, developing high‑performing data architects, modelers, and governance specialists, and building strong cross‑functional influence.
  • Strong understanding of identity systems, omni‑transactional retail data, supplier‑facing analytics, and enterprise data governance frameworks.
